Encrypted record room for India’s paper

Every document.
Every date.
Forever secure.

Take a photo of any paper with your phone. Chronolipi reads it, puts it in order by the date written on it, and locks it on your phone before it is sent — so not even we can read it. Find any page again in seconds.

How it works

Three steps, and the almirah is done

Nothing to install on the office computer. If your staff can send a WhatsApp photo, they can use Chronolipi.

1. Take a photo

Point the phone camera at the page — or pick a PDF or a folder of scans. Tilted photos, staple holes and thumb shadows are fixed for you.

≈ 25 seconds a page

2. Check and save

Chronolipi reads the page and fills in the title, the date and the kind of paper. You glance at it, fix anything wrong, and press Save. The page is locked on your phone before it is sent.

Before upload

3. Find it in seconds

Type a name, a plot number or a few words you remember. The page comes up with its date — on any phone or computer where you log in.

Private by design

We hold your files. We cannot read them.

Most services keep the keys and promise not to look. With Chronolipi there is nothing to promise: the lock is made from your password, on your device.

  • Your password never leaves your phone or computer — we never see it.
  • Every file gets its own lock, so one leaked key can never open the whole archive.
  • If you forget your password, we cannot reset it. That is why you print an emergency key when you sign up — keep it where you keep the deed.
  • Reading the text happens on your device. Asking our server to read a hard page is your choice, page by page, and is written in your activity list.
Who it’s for

Six kinds of paper, six different disasters

A land record, a case file and a discharge summary are kept differently. Chronolipi knows the difference and picks out the right details for each.

Government & land records

Khatians, patta, receipts and applications filed by year and plot, not by which drawer they fell into.

Courts & law firms

Case diaries, orders and exhibits searchable by date, party and section — in seconds, from the corridor.

Clinics & hospitals

Patient history as a timeline: prescriptions, lab reports and discharge summaries in one scrollable line.

Banks & NBFCs

Loan files, KYC and cheque images with integrity receipts your auditors can verify independently.

Schools & colleges

Admission files, mark sheets and verification requests answered without digging through godowns.

Bills, warranty cards and supplier agreements on your phone. GST notices stop being an archaeology project.

What you get

The six things that make it stick

Sorted by the date on the paper

Every document goes on one timeline by the date written on it. A 1998 deed sits in 1998 — whenever you happened to scan it.

Reads Odia, Hindi, English + 11 more

Photos are straightened and cleaned up, then read on your own phone or computer. For handwriting or damaged paper you can ask our server to read that one page — only if you choose to.

Search in plain words

Type a name, a plot number or a few words you remember. You get the page and its date, not a list of file names to guess from.

Locked so only you can read it

Files are locked on your device with your password before they are sent. We never see the password, so we could not read your records even if we wanted to.

Proof that nothing was changed

Every document gets a fingerprint and an entry in a list that cannot be edited — useful when a court, auditor or bank asks whether a copy is genuine.

Knows your kind of paper

Deed, court order, prescription, loan file, GST bill: Chronolipi picks out the useful details — dates, names, plot and case numbers, amounts.

The awkward questions, answered

Can Chronolipi staff read my documents?
No. Each file is locked on your phone or computer with a key made from your password, and we never receive the password. The text is also read on your device. The exceptions are yours to make: for handwriting or a damaged page you can ask our server to read that page, and you can press “Ask AI” for a summary, a letter or an answer from a document. Only a sealed program on our own server sees that page or text, it keeps nothing, and each choice is written in your activity list. If you never choose them, no Chronolipi machine ever sees a readable page.
What happens if I forget my password?
We cannot reset it — there is no back door, and that is what keeps your papers private. When you sign up you print an emergency key; with it you can get back in and choose a new password. Keep it where you keep the deed. Enterprise workspaces can add a second approver so a manager can let someone back in, without anyone at Chronolipi being able to read old files.
Does it read handwritten Odia?
Yes, with limits we state up front. Printed Odia and Hindi read well. Handwritten Odia is hard for every reading system, so doubtful words are marked in yellow for you to check before saving, and for hard pages you can ask for an AI reading. Your corrections stay with your document and train nothing. Anyone who promises 99% on handwriting has not read many municipal records.
Will a judge or auditor accept these as records?
Every document keeps a fingerprint, the time it was saved and who saved it, in a list that cannot be edited. Under the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 a digital record needs proof it was not changed and a record of who handled it. You print a court copy pack — the paper, its fingerprint, times, who did what — with a draft Section 63 certificate (it replaced Section 65B) for your advocate to complete and sign.
We have 40 lakh old pages. Can you take that on?
That is the Bulk plan. You send boxes or a hard drive; we scan at 600 dpi, check each batch, and give you a list of pages with a confidence score so you know which 2% need a person to look. Large backlogs are done month by month, so your archive grows in weeks, not years.
How is this different from Google Drive or a scanner app?
Drive keeps files readable by whoever holds the account, sorts by file name and searches names. Chronolipi sorts by the date inside the document, searches the words on the page, and is built so we cannot read what you store. If your records are merely inconvenient, Drive is fine. If losing them is a career event, the difference matters.
