chronolipi
For branches, collections and audit teams

Loan files your auditors can verify without phoning you

Branch operations, NBFC and MFI back offices, recovery desks, internal audit and compliance.

The four things that change
  • What gets extracted from the page
  • What the timeline sorts on
  • Which gaps and expiries raise a work item
  • What an audit or reply export contains

Encryption, keys and hosting are identical for every sector — that part should not be configurable.

The failure modes

What actually goes wrong with this paper

Four familiar disasters

  • A loan is 60 pages across 4 visits, and “the original agreement” is a sentence people stop saying after 7 years.
  • Audits ask for a sample of 40 files from 2016. The answer is usually a two-day hunt.
  • KYC has retention rules; keeping it forever is a liability, throwing it early is a violation.
  • Settlement letters and demand notices must be provable, especially when a borrower disputes them.

What Chronolipi does instead

1. Day-file capture. Branch photographs the loan pack at sanction and at each milestone; nothing ships to a central records room.

2. Bound to the account. Documents bind to an account number and a date, so the file is one timeline of the loan’s life.

3. Expiry and gaps. Missing mortgage deed, lapsed insurance, stale KYC: raised as work items, not buried in a PDF.

4. Audit sample in an hour. Give the auditor an account list; they receive hashed, date-ordered packs and a custody log.

Fields and compliance

For banking & finance

Extracted as typed fields

  • Account / loan ID
  • Sanction date
  • Document class
  • Borrower & guarantor
  • Amount & schedule
  • KYC expiry
  • Registrary details

Anything the model is unsure about lands in a review queue instead of becoming your record.

What this does for your obligations

RBI expectations on record retention, digitisation of security documents and customer-data minimisation overlap with DPDP: keep what the file requires, expire what it does not. Per-field retention rules and an immutable log are how you evidence that, rather than assert it.

This is engineering context, not legal advice. Sector rules change; bring your compliance officer to the first call.

Straight answers

Can we put KYC documents in any cloud?

That depends on your regulator, your contract with the customer, and your own policy. What we would flag either way: storing them as encrypted, purpose-bound, retention-clocked records is a materially different risk profile from a shared drive.

Do you integrate with our core banking system?

Yes, by API or scheduled file drop: we index by account number, so your CBS stays the system of record and Chronolipi stays the archive of evidence.

What about bulk legacy files?

That is the Bulk plan — send boxes, get back a searchable archive plus a page manifest with confidence scores and a list of pages that need a human.
